Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist, Individual Therapist
Julie specializes in therapeutic work with older teens and adults. With warmth and empathy, she supports clients through a holistic lens, helping them achieve their unique goals.
Julie is an Anishinaabe woman and a graduate of the University of Toronto’s Master of Social Work program, where she specialized in Indigenous Trauma and Resilience. Her practice is rooted in trauma-informed, culturally humble, person- centred, and strengths-based relational approaches.
Dedicated to supporting individuals on their recovery journeys, Julie works with clients navigating anxiety, depression and interpersonal childhood trauma. Her approach is open, collaborative, and compassionate, drawing on mindfulness-based therapies, parts work, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, while also incorporating Indigenous understandings of wellness. With an anti-oppressive lens, Julie views each client in the context of their relationships and environment, recognizing that struggles do not occur in isolation. Through empathy and kindness, she helps clients build on their strengths while supporting their growth and change as they face life’s challenges.
In addition to her role at Your Therapy, Julie is a social worker at Women’s College Hospital, where she focuses on group and individual trauma therapy for survivors of interpersonal childhood trauma and neglect. She has co-developed and led workshops for Indigenous frontline workers and community members, addressing complex grief and intergenerational trauma. Julie has also served as a lecturer at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, co-creating and co- instructing a graduate-level course on trauma-informed classroom practices from Indigenous perspectives.
When she’s not working, Julie enjoys spending quality time with her family (both two- and four-legged members) honing her skills as a beadwork artist, gardening and spending time in nature.
